Strong feelings of nationalism began to grow in India after WW1 because they wanted to gain INDEPENDENCE
Our rule over India is weakening, what should we do?
You will now be put into if you revolt against our rule
The British wanted to remain in Power so they put the Rowlatt Act into action which prohibited any protests or revolution
After the Amritsar Massacre, over 400 Indians were dead. India decided they needed a new, non-violent way to fight injustice. Mahatma Gandhi led this new revolution
We need change in India! I will lead the way!~ Gandhi
There are many ways that we can use to protest without VIOLENCE
Gandhi started boycotting British rule by refusing to buy their goods and refusing to vote. This launched his campaign of civil disobedience
We can make our own salt by collecting the sea water and letting it evaporate
The laws of British were outrageous such as you could buy salt only form the government. So Gandhi and his followers walked about 240 miles to protest. This is called the Salt March
