  • We will keep fighting against Santa Anna! We won't stop till we get our independence!
  • This was the 1st real battle of the Texas Revolution. A Mexican officer asked the people of Gonzales to hand over their canon, but they refused. The colonists asked for help and formed a small army. The colonists marched with the canon which had a white flag that read "Come and Take it." battle was brief but important because it started the Texas Revolution.
  • Texans meet at Washington-on-the-Brazos and decide if Texas would declare its independence. The Peace Party vs. The War Party. It was put to a vote and The Peace Party won. The colonists pledged their loyalty to Mexico and said they would defend the Constitution of 1824.
  • While many colonists are at the convention Santa Anna has arrived in Texas and is fighting against the Texans. The convention takes place at Washington-on-the-Brazos and the purpose is to establish an independent government.In the declaration, the Texans write a list of complaints about why they were unhappy with the Mexican Government. On March 6, 1836, the Alamo falls and this motivates the Texans to keep fighting.
