Storyboard Text

  • Albert Hoffman was a Swiss chemist, born in January 1906, on Bade, Switzerland. His father was a toolmaker and he had three brothers, all younger than him. He studied in the Zürich University on chemestry and was interested in plants and animal chemistry. He worked on chitin, describing his structure. Also, he discovered the LSD.
  • Back in 1939, Albert Hoffman was working in his lab when he thought about the nikethamide, a substance that stimulates the circulatory system. He synthesised it, but it wasn’t satisfactory, so the project was ignored.
  • After five years, Albert Hoffman added 5 mg. and, while he was recrystallizing the substance, he felt dizzy and troubled. Then he noticed that he objects, and his partners shapes were having changes.

  • Albert Hoffman went to rest at his house, the lights of the lightbulb was annoying for him, he lied in his bed and closed his eyes, little colourful shapes danced in front of his eyes and vanished.
  • He concluded he was exposed to the substance and he tried again with a quart of milligram. Afraid to feel the same effects, he asked his assistant to take him to his house. He noticed that the symptoms were more intense.
  • Currently,the LSD is used as a recreative and illegal substance, in some countries its useis allowed with a medical prescription. It can start mental diseases, therewere cases where people committed suicide.
