- Foreshadowing is the use of hints to suggest events that will happen later on. This is an example of foreshadowing because it shows that a person is in a lighting storm and is the tallest thing out there so he is going to get struck by lightning.

- Irony is the contrast between the way things seem and the way they really are. THis is irony because the firefighter is bored when there is a huge fire going on behind him.
