- Us Americans have just gotten out of war with the French and now the British wanna attack our ships and prevent us from moving westward.
- So the Americans had some battles with the British who recruited Natives and Slaves to join their cause . The British believed large numbers would overwhelm the Americans but they were wrong,.
- However the night of August 24,184 Washington had been abandoned by the military and the British troops marched into the White House with the intention of burning it down. When they entered a dinner set for 40 had already been prepared and laid out, so they had a feast before they burned the White House.
- While Washington burned many tried to save important documents for example James Madison's wife Dolly and her servants cut a picture of General George Washington from its frame along with several other important historical treasures.
- Not long after the American troops drove the British out of Washington and then they won the war . American nationalism skyrocketed because they had just defeated the best military in the world and they had defended themselves for the second time with no international intervention.
- The treaty of Ghet ended the war and kept the British out of North America, the Americans continued their expansion westward and established a stronger nation.
