Romeo and Juliets first act starts off with the long and famous prologue of Romeo and Juliets fate. This prologue also establishes many things such as the setting, and the importance of fate. Then after, the first scene of the play starts. Most details of this scene are irrelevant, though, the main points of this scene were the Montagues and Capulets spar. This then ultimately ended up setting up one of the story's main conflicts. After Prince is told of the spar, he decides to have any altercations between the two parties to be punished with death.
In Scene 1 of Act 1s Romeo and Juliet, We meet Benvolio (Romeo's cousin), and Romeo. Where Benvolio finds Romeo in an alleyway upset. Benvolio asks what Romeo is upset. Romeo tells him that he is in love with a girl that doesn't want to return the same feelings for him. Benvolio, thus, tells him to forget about this girl. Though Romeo doesn't consider.
In Scene 2 of Act 1, the Capulet announces he will have a birthday party for Juliet. Though, when the Capulet gives the servingman the list of people to invite, Romeo and Benvolio are asked to read the paper for him since he can't read. Benvolio, and Romeo lie to him and put their names on the list with the other people invited. Benvolio plans to have him, Romeo and Romeo's best friend, Mercutio, crash the party so they can help Romeo get over Rosaline.

In Scene 3, the story shifts to the Capulets. Where Lady Capulet, (Juliet's Mother) ask Juliet about Paris' marriage proposal. Though, Juliet only considers this and says she will only proceed with it if Paris is suitable for her.
"Marriage?"
In Scene 4, Romeo and his attendees are walking to the Capulets party. Romeo continues to mope over Roasline while Mercutio playfully banters and teases Romeo for being a typical hopeless lover. Mercutio then goes on to tell Romeo about Queen Mab.

In Scene 5, Romeo and his friends crash the Capulet party where Romeo first met Juliet. When Romeo first sees Juliet, he immediately gets over Rosaline and falls in love with her. Afterwards, Romeo finds Juliet and talks with her. They then develop romantic interest for each other. However, they both find out from nurse they are of the opposinf party.
