  • Water pollution is caused when toxic substances from places such as farms, towns, and factories dissolve into the water and pollute it.
  • Some of the categories of water pollution include groundwater, surface water, point sources, nonpoint sources, transboundaries, and the ocean. in the ocean like where I'm at now, many areas inhabited by sealife are being covered in debris, mainly plastic, which can harm the marine life.

  • The most common types of water contamination include those of agriculture, sewage, radiation, and oil. As you can see, the ship behind me is leaking oil which will pollute the ocean and much of the marine life near it as well. But, the every day cars and trucks that we use also leak just as much if not more oil into the environment as this leak.
  • Water pollution can lead to many adverse effects on both human health as well as the environment. It can lead to the spread of diseases such as cholera, giardia, and typhoid, as well as causing algal bloom in aquatic environments and killing marine life.
