I got a C- on a test. I can't do this. I won't get into college and I wont be able to succeed in my chosen career.
Madison is a student who shows great academic success. It is typical for her to receive A's and B's on most assignments. Madison is about to start her journey at a new school.
Madison's teacher shows her a Growth mindset
Madison, our grades are not meant to define us. They are meant to teach us. Think of this grade as a tool. This tool is showing you exactly what area you need to focus a little more on.
Madison is quickly realizing that her new school is tougher than she anticipated. She knows it will prepare her for her chosen college major, but she is beginning to worry.
Madison uses her tool
I am going to use this test as an added studying tool. When I take the end unit test I am going to do better!
Madison got a test back and has received a C- as a grade. This has never happened to her before. She is used to getting top scores. Now all she can think about is her future and how this could affect her moving into college.
