In this chapter Enfield was on a walk with Utterson when they see a door and tells Utterson about when Hyde is seen trampling a girl and is caught, when he is confronted Enfield sees his appearance and instantly judges Hyde as a deformed inhuman like man but when Hyde gives the girl that was trampled's family £100 to be quiet and keep his reputation, Enfield is surprised by his wealth considering he looks so criminal like. When Hyde is getting the £100 check he goes to that door and returns with a check signed by Dr Jekyll .
This is where Utterson first meet Hyde and also describes him as animal like and Hyde shows a lot of aggression, especially when Utterson mentions Jekyll. 'We have common friends' Says Utterson then Hyde bursts into a flush of anger.
