Our drills went by fast. It wasn't anything hard, not at all. Our coach calls out a scrimmage for us to see how we would play in real games. I was excited for this scrimmage. I've never played against other people before. I knew I was ready.
Time for the scrimmage!
And the game was on. Our game began with a scream from our coach saying "Start!" And with hustling feet going towards the ball. One of my teammates got the first touch on the ball and sent it to the other side with a good POW which lead to their possession.
I hustle to get back the possession we had at the start. I go for the ball, but the opposite team passes me as I step forward to get the ball. I took me a little bit to catch up with them, the one player still had the ball, and he was at the goal. I reached for the ball once more, but it was too late. The ball had been release from his feet with a powerful kick and into the goal. 1-0.
It didn't take long until we scored our first goal. As they scored their first goal, I started feeling determined. I needed to get my team a goal. I start off the free kick and my teammate took the ball and sprinted up to their goal side. I was shocked seeing how fast he was. I ran after him to help him, but he didn't need it. He had juked the other team out with one of my other teammates and took his shot. The ball, aiming for the right corner of the goal, went in. 1-1.
My team was hyped up after our goal. The game got intense for both teams. The opposing team started their kick off with a little fancy trick and kicked it behind to the defenders. My team rushes up to attack and catch the ball from them. One of my teammates take the ball with a kick to the side and gets passed on to me. I take a glance up to see no one in my way. I take my chances and sprint as fast as I could to the other teams goal. I reached the 18 yard box, take a glace at the ball, and the right side of the goal. I take the risky shot. Swoosh. My team celebrated. 2-1, our game.
The game was over within a hot minute. The final score was 2-1, we won. I was so thrilled to tell my mom that I had scored my first goal. I was overjoyed. We shook hands with the other team and huddled in a group, like penguins, for our group dismissal.
