  • The Brown Anole Lizards are everywhere in the state of Florida, with some isolated pockets in some of the other states in the deep south.

  • With the introduction of the Cuban lizards, the native green anole lizards were forced to adapt by occupying territory on the highground. This allows them to avoid direct competition with the Cuban lizards who strictly live on the low ground.
  • What You Can Do
  • It is believed that the lizards were able to make their to Floridavia cargo shipments from Cuba in the late 1880s.
  • While they aren't harmful to humans, they can be annoying house pests that are difficult to get rid of. Pets like cats are very capableat catching the lizards. Unfortunately, eating lizards can make pets sick and result in them losing their lunch on your floor.
  • While it is impossible to eradicate the Cuban lizard population at this point there are a few ways you help avoid making the issue worse.For example, making your gardens more friendly for green anolelizards and their eggs.
