Ugh! I'm going to flunk my quiz over the Endosymbiotic theory!
Dude, it's so easy. I'll explain.
Okay, I get it so far. I think.
Well, the theory basically says that eukaryotic cells and organelles such as mitochondria came from the folds of the membrane of a prokaryote.
So, to start. Organelles in cells didn't just come out of thin air. This was noticed and someone came up with a theory. Come on, I'll show you evidence.
Okay, right behind you!
Follow me, we'll use this empty science room.
Ok so lets say these little things are prokaryotes. We know that these are the types of organisms or cells that have NO nucleus. Keep in mind that it has a cell membrane.
Right. All cells have a cell membrane which is semipermeable! It is made up of a lipid bilayer.
Right. Now, organelles. They had to come from somewhere! The same goes for eukaryotes. This is where the endosymbiotic theory comes in.
Oh! That makes total sense. I was just over thinking it. I think I'm ready for my quiz, thanks!
Mitochondria
Mooooom! I made an A on my quiz...thanks to Avery for the crash course;)
