The main character in the book is a kid everyone calls "Stosh" which is short for his last name, Stoshack. There are some basic characters like Stosh's mom and dad, and his uncle who he traveled back in time to save. There are also some big characters like this kid who has always been mean to Stosh, Bobby "Now, let me tell you a little about this kid. Bobby Fuller is a bad guy." (11) and of course Jim Thorpe
There are multiple settings in this story. The first setting is at Stosh's baseball game. The next setting is at his house and after that he was at school for a very short amount of time. They also go to a 1931 construction site where Jim Thorpe was working after retiring from sports. They go to Polo Grounds after that and attempt to save Thorpe's career, but after failing to do so they went home.
The conflict in the story is that Bobby's great grandfather Jim Thorpe's athletic career was wasted. "Who's Jim Thorpe?" I finally asked. 'Only the greatest athlete of the twentieth century,". (15)
Bobby and Stosh try and help save Jim Thorpe's career by going back in time however they weren't able to do so.
The theme/main idea of the story is that Jim Thorpe was one of the best athletes to ever live but he was never credited for all the amazing things he did.
