  • Patria,'' I am destined to be a nun and God sees me as his innocent dove. My faith will always be to the church and God's way as it is the only path for me that I am meant for. No one else has a greater belief and dedication to the church as I do, I am the perfect person for the role of the holy servant of the Lord.''
  • Patria: I wish to stay pure as future nuns are suppose to be but as I grow into a woman I want to explore who I am. AHH what should I do, they're both calling to me, hopefully this cross will help, maybe not?!'.
  • Patria's faith changes, especially in chapter 4. At the start Patria's faith in God is serious and felt it was her destiny to be a nun (and her family thought so too). Then, over the course of her growing up she begins puberty and feels like this is unholy of her but still explores herself anyway because she is human. Since, she feels unholy she ''can't'' be a nun because they are supposed to be spiritual and holy individuals and what she want's to do isn't what a future nun is suppose to do. After that, she loses her child by suffering a miscarriage and thinks how could all-powerful God allow this to happen especially to someone like her who's very devoted and feels let down because he shouldn't let events such as that to happen. But when she goes to church she has her faith brought back to her by the Virgin Mary who she sees and devotes herself to this symbol because she seems less strict and is a woman. In this instance, she is not as serious as she was before as in not tied down to the seriousness of following God's word. As an individual her faith hurts her because she feels as if nothing in her life should go wrong because she feels so devoted and then with the instance of her losing her baby she feels devastated and let down because of her faith that it causes her a lot of distress and change in her faith. Also, it helps her because faith is her strength/her courage because she gets through events such as with her baby being buried and being conflicted to help calm her mindset.
