It's so nice to be here isn't it ? I love to be next of the ocean! In fact,it reminds me of a book i've read: "The Vast Wonder of the World"!
Yeah! I love the marine environment too! That sounds cool!Tell me more about the book!
The book talks about a scientist called Ernest! Since he was just a little boy he loved to read and learn new things! He used to observe everything very carefully so he could learn something from it and explore more and more. Also,he studied in the school his mom created!
Oh! he seems like a good boy! Just like you!
Oh thanks! But, his life wasn’t so easy! His mother died of tuberculosis when he was stillyoung and he’d been through many disasters and tragedies in his life! Not to mention thesegregation that black people suffered back then.
OMG! That’s so sad! It's unbelievable how much criticism and prejudice he's been through! I'm glad he overcame them all.
Yeah! Isn’t it? But anyway he learned from his mom to work hard for things and he decided tofocus on studying biology and cells!
Ernest became a biology professor at Howard University teaching the students how important is to be curious and observe!
Cells? We are studying this in English Class too, right?! What did he discovered about cells?
Yep!! He examined very carefully the egg cells of marine animals during the reproduction and found out new things other scientists never said before: the surface and other layer of the cell was as important the sperm.
WOW! How bold of him! Imagine if he wasn't a good observer or if he didn't insist on his work when people discredit him?! This is a very important message.
We need more curious, generous and smart people like Ernest! Let's go back to the class so we can be one of them!
