Storyboard Description
NY-3.NF Number and Operations – Fractions Develop understanding of fractions as numbers. Note: Fractions are limited to those with denominators 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8.
1. Understand a unit fraction, 1/b , is the quantity formed by 1 part when a whole is partitioned into b equal parts. Understand a fraction a/b as the quantity formed by a parts of size 1/b.
To complete this activity, demonstrate the fractions 1/1, ½, ¼ and ⅛. For each fraction, correctly display an image and the matching fraction. For the final board, create a word problem using fractions to display your knowledge and understanding of the concept of fractions. This activity must be completed individually.
