- 7; school has started and Manny becomes a manger for Lencho's boxing team.Lencho is a member of a gang called,"The Berets."After losing his fight ,Lencho gets kicked out of the Berets.
- 8; magda was pregnant and had a miscarriage. Mom and Manny took her to the hospital.
- 9; Manny has a crush on Dorothy. Mr.Giddens force Manny to go to Dorothy,s birthday party. At the party ,the other guests think that Manny is trying to make a move on Gloria. They make him feel like an outsider and like he doesn't belong.
- 10; Manny decides to join a gang and pass an initiation test. he wants to join the gang because he wants to kiss one of the girls. the initiation is getting beat by the gang members.
- 11; Manny goes with the gang to hang out. They look to rob someone or steal things from the drug store. Eddie steals a lady's purse and the cops come. Manny realizes that this is not the life that he wants to live.
