- "Coraline, go out and do something. Your father and I are busy right now."
- "I hate it here and Wybie is so annoying"
- "I'm your other mother and that is your other father. You can have whatever you want here"
- "Wow I love it here"
- In the beginning of the movie, Coraline and her family moved from Michigan to Oregon. She is upset over this because she moves away from all her friends to the Pink Palace Apartments. There she explores and gets scared by a black cat. She then meets a boy named Wybie who tries to talk to her. She gets annoyed by this and goes home.
- "We got you a gift so that you can stay here forever"
- "I'm a little sleepy. I think I'll go to bed"
- Coraline goes home and starts to explore the house because it starts pouring outside. She looks throughout the whole house and became really bored. She went to her mom and dad to ask them to do stuff with her but they are both too busy. Coraline gets upset over this and her and her mom get into a fight. In order to stop Coraline from bothering her, Coraline's mom finds a key to a secret passage that is blocked off.
- When Coraline and her parents go to bed after dinner, Coraline gets up from her bed and looks for the key again. She goes to the passage and there, she finds that it is not blocked off like she had originally thought. She goes through and discovers an alternate world. She meets her "other parents" that take care of her and let her do what she wants. She loves the world there and starts to continuously go to them.
- After going to the other world a couple times, Coraline begins to love it more than her real world. She then receives a gift from her other parents. They tell her that in order to stay in their world that they must give her button eyes. Realizes that they are evil and tells them that she is tired and would like to go to bed. She tries to sleep to go back to her world. When she wakes up she is still in the other world.
- Learning that she is still in the other world she tries to run away but the world goes white. The black cat from the beginning tells her that the other mother is creating the world and it only goes up to so much. When she returns to the house, she learns that her parents are also held captive. In order to escape and save her parents she makes a deal with the other mother. She needs to outsmart the other mother to escape.
- Coraline ends up outsmarting the other mother to escape. She saves her parents and exits the other world through the passage. She locks up the door and wraps up the key. She goes to throw the key in the well when the other mothers hand crawls through the passage to attack Coraline. They defeat the hand and also throw out the hand. Time passes and her home is now lively. There are a lot of flowers everywhere and people gardening. The living space is the complete opposite from the beginning.
