- One of the leading cause of WW1 because of the expansion and formation of the alliances, the loyalty and dedication of the alliances to each other, and the coalition between major powers and their hostility between one another

- Countries were being greedy and not negotiating. They all thought they were the best and most powerful country and had a big ego.

- As countries like Britain and France expanded their empires, it resulted in increased tensions among European countries, because of their increase in size and power.
- After the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. His murder started a war across Europe that lasted until 1918.
