  • CAUSES OF THE WAR
  • THE WAR OF 1812
  • TROUBLE WITH NATIVE AMERICANS
  • LAND BATTLES
  • The War of 1812 occurred for many reasons but there were a few that were more important. The first main reason was the negative influence the British had on the American trade system. The second reason was the impressment and even killing that was happening on American ships by British pirates.
  • SEA BATTLES
  • Along with the direct conflicts of America and the British, there were others involved. The Native Americans were aggravated due to the settlers taking their land and soon went to war within the nation. After the Native Americans were defeated settlers discovered the Indians had British weapons.
  • THE BATTLE OF NEW ORLEANS
  • There were multiple land battles around the nation. Thousands of troops were sent to America by the British to halt the overtaking of Canada. Following this, there were also attacks in Washington D.C. where Great Britain burned down many buildings, including the Capitol building and White House. As if this wasn't enough there were also issues in Maryland.
  • RESULTS OF THE WAR
  • This event was almost like the start of the War of 1812 and this was the British attack on the Chesapeake naval. Great Britain had captured, injured, and killed U.S. sailors in our own harbor. During the war, the U.S. naval force captured a British fleet of six ships and this gave America a notch in their belt.
  • A British fleet surrendered to Americans and this news would greatly weaken the urges of war, although communications took too long and the result was the battle of New Orleans. An army composed of a diverse mixture of troops that added up to about 7,500 soldiers invaded America but were met the death of 2,000 of their own and very few Americans were dead. This invasion was conquered by the U.S. and left our nation with great pride.
  • After the war, nobody was declared the victor. Instead, it influenced other issues. These events included the weakening of Indian resistance, National pride flooded the country, and political parties were hugely affected. Americans were proud of how they withstood this war and made them stronger.
