The Delegates Assemble
In 1786, a series of events led to a new form of government for the US. Delegates came to Philadelphia to regulate trade and promote it.
The Convention Begins
55 delegates (Founding Fathers) came to the Constitutional Convention. This was to discuss changes and responsibilities.
The Virginia Plan
At the Constitutional Convention the delegates decided they wanted to protect peoples rights.
The Great Compromise
The delegates wanted their meeting to remain a secret because they did not want to be pressured by the politics.
The Virginia Plan consisted of a new form of a government that had 3 branches. the first one was legislature, the second one was executive, and the third one was judiciary. These branches separated the power of the government.
The Great Compromise had the legislature have two houses. The house of representatives would have representation according to state population.
