- The new England colonies ere ruled by England, but had a government of their own, using the first written constitution(the fundamental orders of Connecticut). They also wrote the mayflower compact. There main economy source came from water activities such as fishing, shipping, and whaling. Although, they also had lumber and fur trading. This colony was very religiously strict, and the people were puritans.
- The middle colonies had The Pennsylvania charter of privileges to allow them power. Each year an assembly was held between freemen to discuss legislature. It was called the breadbasket colonies, and produced a lot of wheat. It had good rainfall and soil. And there were many different types of people that lived here, this made the colony very diverse.
- The southern colonies had the 1st representative government, the Virginia house of burgesses. They were very big on cash crops and slave labor. They had good climate for growing crops. And it was a safe place for Catholics. Debtors went to Georgia.
