- Hi! I am Lara.Toaday we will visit Asia's biggest slum in Mubmai and thats DHARAVI.....Lets hear what the Mumbai residents who live outside the slum says about those living in slum's ???
- Whats your perception about Dharavi??
- I am a teacher .I know our children from Dharavi are not taken in good schools as we are coming from Slum...All these type of discriminations should be stopped. People here want their children to give good education so that their children don't have to suffer like them.
- They are not well dressed,well groomed,very bad language.We dont talk with such people.They are not educated ,they don't have manners..
- They really get isolated...we isolate them.We shouldn't do.They might be different from us but after all they are also human being at the end
- Lets visit few homes in the slum and see see their daily routine and find their opinion about their life..??
- We frequently get ill as its very unhygienic here.We often find treatment for dengue,malaria,viral fever etc.There is always scarcity of hygienic water so we have to store water for many days.We boil water before use.
- Its been 24 years we are living here. We are 6 members in family and I almost earn 3000 per month by working as a maid at different house.Its tough but anyways we have to live.
- We are often degraded by our collogues and friends as we come from Dharavi,.Its difficult for us to find Job when they see the place of living. Although we are happy here but we hesitate to tell where we reside.
- Although Govt. is taking action plans to built apartments for the slum people but they are protesting it as they are happy with their house and living hood. They want to eradicate the discriminations s happening to them and want to live a respectful life like others.
