  • The story begins with Gerald, an older teenager who cannot stand the sounds of war going on around him. He decides to quit the farming which he has known his whole life and become a sailor. Sailing has fascinated him his whole life and he wants to help his country in the fight for Liberty from the British. We find his family cannot stand his decision, but they let him go.
  • Battle of Flamborough Head
  • We next see Gerald standing on the deck of ship next to the commanding officer, John Paul Jones. Gerald convinces Mr. Jones to let him become a sailor aboard his ship. They both share the same ideas of freedom from the British and a new government, so they get along well.
  • American Victory
  • In the time after Gerald joins John Paul Jones, more farmers and other common colonists come to the ship to fight for the same causes. They all want to destroy the mean British government. They sail towards the North Sea in which ensues an epic sailing montage. They eventually approach merchant ships being escorted by two British ships.
  • Captain Gerald
  • I'm here to fight for liberty and new society!
  • The American ships engage the British in an awesome battle scene. However, the British are obviously beating the Americans. One of Gerald's friends gets hit by a cannon ball and Gerald is horrified by the results. He realizes that this war is not joke and wonders if he will make it out alive. The British called for the American surrender but John Paul Jones responds with a great quote.
  • HUH??
  • "I have not yet begun to fight!"
  • John Paul Jones proceeds to ram a British ship with his half sunk, American ship and take over the British. He then uses the British ship to destroy the other British ships. Gerald realizes how lucky he is to be alive and witness the actions one the best naval commanders.
  • We really showed them the American Spirit!!
  • The final scene opens with Gerald talking to somebody who wants to join his crew. Because of John Paul Jones' actions, Gerald was inspired to take the necessary training and become the captain of his own ship to do a bigger part in the fight for liberty.
