1756 - The British sailed to the New World wanting to claim land but the French and Indians were already there, which started a war arguing about who gets to claim the land.

1765 - After the war ended, British claimed the New World but eventually went bankrupt, leading them to tax the Colonists. The Colonists were angry about being taxed without having a vote, so they started boycotting.

British soldiers were sent to capture those who were rioting against them. While the British soldiers were marching down to Concord, the Colonists were already warned that they were coming, taking this as an advantage. The first battle of the American Revolution was held in Concord.
1781 - The last battle of the American Revolution was held in Yorktown, Virginia. The British were surrounded by the Colonists and were forced to surrender to George Washington.
1783 - After the hard fought battles, America, Britain, and French signed the Treaty of Paris to finally end the war. The Colonists were finally able to have their independence.
