Storyboard Text

  • "...but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge" (Poe 372).
  • Montresor is seeking revenge. This could allude to the word vindictive. This gives me the indication that he is angry enough with Fortunato to seek out vengeance. Montresor is a vengeful individual.
  • "We will have many a rich laugh about it at the palazzo" (Poe 375).
  • This shows me that Fortunato doesn't understand what Montresor is doing. Fortunato believes that him being chained up is a joke instead of Montresor sealing him up for good. One trait that this brings up in my head is ignorance. Fortunato is not quick to catch on with what is really happening.
  • Montresor is misleading Fortunato into believing he cares about his health. The irony here is that he's about to kill him. This shows that Montresor is deceptive with the impression he's been giving Fortunato.
  • "We will go back; you will be ill, and I cannot be responsible" (Poe 373).
