  • The witches are chanting a spell to answer the questions, asked by Macbeth by showing him horrible apparitions that predicts his future.
  • The first apparition is a head that warns him to beware Macduff. The second apparition is a bloody child who tells him that none of a woman born shall harm him. And the last one tells him that he won't vanish unless Great Birnam Wood to high Dunsinane Hill shall come against him.
  • The witches now show Macbeth a line of kings, the eighth of whom holds a mirror in his hand, followed by Banquo.
