- Monarchy: In a monarchy there is a ruler in charge who has usually inherited the job because of his/her family. The one person in charge is called a monarch. Most monarchs do not have absolute rule.

- Autocracy: A system of government when all the power (political and social power) is in the hands of one person. The examples could be absolute monarchy and a dictatorship.
- WE HAVE THE POWER!
- Theocracy: A form of government where a religious person rules in the name of God or a diety. This is based on the idea that this religious person gets suggestions from God to give to the government and the people.
- Democracy: A system of government where the people have the authority to choose their own leader. The United States is a democracy.
- Oligarchy: A type of government when a small group of people has control. It means government by the few because there are a few people who have the power.
