- In this story there is two characters Della who is nice and humble,and Jim who is simple.They are both poor and try to buy gifts for each other and end up sacrificing their most precious possessions in an 8 dollar flat.
- Climax
- Della only had a dollar and 87 cents, and the next day was Christmas.There was nothing to do but sit on the little couch and howl.Then she realized she could sell her hair.
- She went to town and then she saw a sign that said hair goods of all kinds and she went in.She ran up one flight of stairs an collected herself panting.Della asked the lady will you buy my hair?The lady said yes I buy hair.Take your hat of and I will take a look.She said twenty dollars.Then she bought Jim a fob chain plain and simple like him.
- Resolution
- When Della got home she got out her curling irons and went to work.If Jim doesn't kill me he will say I look like a Coney island chorus girl.So when Jim got home he looked thin and serious.His eyes were upon Della with a peculiar look on his face.
- Jim please don't look at me that way.I cut off my hair for a good reason. You've cut off your hair asked Jim.Jim gave her a package it was combs the ones she wanted.She almost forgot to get him his chain. here she said.i got you this chain.I sold my watch so we will both have to put up our gifts for a while.
- They both still love each other and they both realize the gifts don't matter it's the thought put into them.
