Henry Hudson learned his seafaring skills perhaps through sailing or fishing, and probably had the talent for navigation prior to his voyages.
Before Hudson took his own voyage, he went with other sailors in his late 20s, which is also where Hudson could have learned some sailing tips.
I shall call it, the Hudson River!
On his first voyage, an English Firm entrusted Hudson to find a route to Asia, but when the waterways were too icy, his crew was forced to turn back home. But, Hudson discovered whales which led to new hunting areas.
Let us cheer!
Once again Hudson failed trying to look for the famous Northeast Passage, he landed in Novaya Zemlya located in the Arctic Ocean, but was blocked by thick ice.
Hudson did not give up, he decided to try again with the help of Dutch East India Company even though he was blocked by ice again, he did not return home. Hudson traveled on and even explored a river which would be named the Hudson River, and encountered many adventures.
Henry Hudson discovered the Hudson Bay, Hudson Strait, and the Hudson river many accomplishments that will inspire other sailors.
