- This is what God has planned for us
- Mountain men explored the west and helped lead any settlers across the mountain trails to Oregon. They also established forts and trails. Missionarys established schools and clinics.
- Mexican-American War
- Mexico deserves to be a state!
- Mexico will not be a part of the US!
- Pioneers set out during the early spring of 1843 to set out from independence. They took a 2,000 mile route to Oregon Country. The Pioneers traveled 15 miles a day and traveled by using wagon trains.

- The United States refused to add Texas. Senate started to get worried that they would end up at war with Mexico So president Sam Houston threatened to become allies with Britain. But after a while, The US gave up and allowed Texas to join the US.
- Mormons are members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. Brigham Young becomes the Mormon leader. He designs plans for Salt Lake City.
- In 1848 in Northern California John Sutter discovers gold on his land. More and more people found out about this and started rushing to California. Soon there were gold fields, planning for gold, and underground mines.
