Storyboard Text
Bryan, school was very interesting today! We learned about the Tainos' appearance.
That's awesome Abbie! Why was the lesson interesting? Didn't the Tainos look and dress like us?
Let's go on the inside and you can tell me all about it.
Well, for starters, they used to flatten their babies' foreheads at birth. They thought it made them look more attractive.
Wow! That would mean the Tainos had flat, broad foreheads!
They even had brown skin and straight, black hair.
You're so correct!
I read once that they were medium built and of medium height. They were also very peaceful people.
They also dressed differently from us. They used parrot feathers to make their headwear.
The cacique was the only one who wore a jacket made from parrot feathers.
Oh! I see. So what did they wear as clothes?
Well, The men wore loincloths made from cotton and the married women wore skirts made from cotton.
The unmarried women and the children went naked.
Interesting!
The Tainos also wore necklaces that they made from animal teeth, stones, etc.
Sis, thanks for sharing. I learned a lot. Let's get something to eat.
