- Mrs. Rumpleskilton: We have a problem with gas that has a price of $2.20. The price changes to $2.31 so we need to find the percent of change. Do you guys have any ideas how to find it?
- Elsa: EW, hes such a nerd.
- Billy Bobby Joe: I do!!!!
- Mrs. Rumpleskilton: How do you do it then Billy?
- Billy Bobby Joe: First you have to do 2.31 minus 2.20 which is .11. Then you make a fraction with 11 as you're numerator and 2.31 as your denominator and divide which will give you .05 and there is your answer.
- Mrs. Rumpleskilton: No, that's not it. Jay Z, can you please tell us what he did wrong here?
- He didn't do his fraction right, which is supposed to be .11 over 2.20 because the equation is change over original which will give you .05 and he also forgot to multiply by 100 so your final answer would be 5%
- Elsa: Awwww, He's so dreamy and smart
- Mrs. Rumpleskilton: Good Job!! Now can you please tell us how to find the total cost with a tax of 7%, a discount of 35% and a cost of 107.99?
- Jay Z: First you do 100 plus 7 which will give you 1.07, then you do 100 minus 35 and that will give you .65. Now you take the 1.07 and multiply that by 107.99 and you will get 115.55. Finally you multiply 115.55 by .65 and you will get the total cost of $75.11.
- Mrs. Rumpleskilton: Magnifico Jay Z. Elsa, how about you give us an answer when you have an original price of 125 and it changes to 90. What will be the percent of decrease.
- Elsa: sure
- Billy Bobby Joe: I have failed my parents!!!

- Elsa: First you do 125 minus 90 and get 35. Then you make a fraction that will be 35 over 125 and divide it which will give you .28. Lastly you do .28 times 100 and get 28%
