- Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in these days?
- What is this conversation you are holding with each other as you walk?
- The two disciples gave a brief overview of how Jesus was crucified earlier that week. But when some women went to visit the tomb, Jesus was not there. Then the women saw angels telling them that Jesus was alive. But none of them have seen him yet.
- What things?
- Jesus told them that the Messiah had to suffer, die, and then come back to life. The disciples offered for Jesus to stay with them. That night at the dinner table, Jesus took the bread, blessed it, and breaking it he began giving it to them. The disciples realized that he was the Messiah, and then Jesus vanished.
- O, foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe that the prophets have spoken! Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer to enter his glory?
