  • The Lost Hero By: Rick Riordan
  • Jason's Characterization By: Sam D
  • AHHHH!
  • OK, here's the plan...
  • The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan Characterization of Jason by Sam D Jason is the main character this book. He starts off at the very beginning of the book. "Jason was having a rotten day"(Riordan 1).
  • Your in danger, Jason.
  • I will eat you!
  • The character Jason is fit and athletic. He fought off the Venti by dodging their slashes at him and charging them with swords. "Jason ran swung the sword at the venti"(Riordan 23). Jason clearly used his athletic skills against the Venti to repel them. If Jason were not fit, he couldn't have fended off the venti because they were extremely powerful and swift, yet he managed to fight them. Jason also was swift enough to save Piper from falling to her death. Jason couldn't have done this if he were unhealthy and slow.
  • Another one of Jason's characteristics is team leadership. He guided his friends into battles on multiple occasions. "When it came to a life and death decision, Leo knew Jason was the one to ask"(Riordan 449). Leo Piper and Jason are all trying to Free the queen of the Gods, Hera. On the journey there, they happen to run into giants and other enemies. Jason, on multiple occasions, led his friends on attack plans and into battle. He demonstrates leadership because he isn't afraid to lead his friends into battle and die trying to defeat the enemy.
  • Prepare to die!
  • In the beginning of the story, Jason was fearful. He was fearful for his life and afraid of what was to become of him. "The Pain behind Jason's eyes got worse than ever. Half-bloods. Camps. Monsters!"(Riordan 16). Jason has also lost of his memory. He has no idea who he is, where he is, or what he is. This adds to his fear. The bus driver and instructor has told him that he has no idea who he is and how he got there. By this time, Jason is freaked out and is scared for his supposed mystery friends and hi own life.
  • Towards the middle, Jason has experinced a lot of mixed emotions. He has been through a lot which includes going to a camp full of half-bloods, defeated evil Venti and had a visit with the ice god and ice godess. Now he is intimidated by his enemies. "then he'd be facing a god, two of his children, and a freeze dried army"(Riordan 217). Jason is intimidated the large force of enemies he is facing. He knows that alone, he can't defeat them all and his friends might get hurt or killed.
  • Towards the end of the story, Jason is a fearless character. By this time has fought off multiple giants, and has regained parts of his memory that has help him become a fantastic warrior. "Jason launched himself at the giant, determined to tear him apart"(Riordan 511). Before Jason, a demigod, fended off the giant king, who was meant to replace the king of the gods Zeus, he had already taken down Encladus, a different powerful giant who kidnapped Piper's dad. By the end of the story, Jason had the heart of a warrior and was ready to die in battle. This made him fearless.
