- Tim O'Brien and Kiowa are talking late at night when Tim O'Brien shows Kiowa a picture of his girlfriend Billie. However because it is very dark outside Tim O'Brien has to turn on his flashlight so they can see
- I got you Kiowa! I'm going to pull you out hang tight
- Since Tim O'Brien and Kiowa are very close to enemy territory the flashlight gives away their location. This causes multiple rounds in the field to immediately go off all around Tim and Kiowa.
- Argh that smell! I can't hold on
- After the rounds go off Tim O'Brien can hear Kiowa's screams and tries to crawl towards them but he can't see. The Song Tra Bong which is now overflowing sucks Tim O'Brien underwater for a while
- Kiowa
- Tim O'Brien gets back above the water and sees Kiowa but only his arm and boot and bubbles surrounding him. Tim O'Brien grabs onto Kiowa's boot and tries to pull him out of the Song Tra Bong
- No matter how hard Tim O'Brien pulls on Kiowa's boot, the Song Tra Bong pulls him further away. The terrible smell of the Song Tra Bong is also starting to affect Tim O'Brien.
- The terrible smell and the overflowing of the Song Tra Bong becomes too much for Tim O'Brien to overcome. He whispers Kiowa's name, lets go of his boot and watches him slide away
