Storyboard Text

  • Those who lived in Herot lived happy, peaceful lives under King Hrothgar's rule. They enjoyed spending their time in the Mead-Hall singing, dancing, and socializing with each other.
  • However, a man-eating, evil monster named Grendel watched over the people in Herot with anger. He, descendent of Cain, was jealous of them, and one night while everyone was sleeping peacefully, Grendel attacked Herot, killing 30 men.
  • Grendel continued to torture Herot for 12 years. He killed all the people he saw and made it so that Herot stood empty while he had control.
  • During this time, King Hrothgar was the only one protected from Grendel. Since he was the king, he had God's protection making him untouchable for Grendel.
  • Throughout the rest of the world, the story of Herot and Grendel was told all over. Then, one day, a great warrior in Geatland named Beowulf heard of the story. He immediately knew that he needed to help Herot and defeat Grendel.
  • I must go and save Hrothgar and his people!
  • And so Beowulf and 14 of his men traveled to Herot. Upon their arrival, they were questioned by a guard about who they were and why there were there. After giving the guard, a warrior, and Hrothgar an explanation, Hrothgar, now knowing that Beowulf is the son of Ecgtheow, allowed the men to go on to defeat Grendel and save Herot.
  • I am Beowulf and my men and I are here to save Herot!
  • Who are you?
