  • Constitution of 1824The Constitution was created to help with the separation of powers in Mexico. The Mexican government meant the Constitution was never enforced. This was a key step to the independence of Mexico.
  • Fredonian RebellionIn 1827, a small rebellion called the "Fredonian Rebellion" started due to a empresario and his brother. It mainly happen due to Haden Edwards did not respect other people's land grants, starting a short rebellion. From this, he got upset and created the Republic of Fredonia.
  • Guerrero DecreeIn 1829, the Guerrero Decree abolished slavery. From this, the Anglo- American slave owners were alarmed by this Decree. People in Texas gave up on outlawing slavery because of the decree.
  • No more slavery!
  • Law of April 6th 1830This law was mainly created to stop immigration between the US to Texas. People were also extremely upset by this law and Stephen F. Austin has to inform the president about how the settlers felt about it. This law is also one of the main reasons Texas declared their independence from Mexico, so it is a factor that starts their independence.
  • 1834-Stephen F. Austin ImprisonmentOn 1834 Stephen F. Austin, was imprisoned, which caused a lot of conflict between to the Texans. He was arrested for treason from a letter he wrote in October 1833, which was the reason of his arrestment. This was mainly President Santa Ana's decision because he did not want seperate states from Coahuila with the land grants.
  • April 21, 1836- Texas won their independenceAlong the San Jacinto River, the republic of Texas won that battle. From that, they declared themselves as "Texas" being an independent state. This is the story on why Texas is called the lone star state as it has one star on its flag to represent its independence.
