Hey Lily, what's wrong? Do you need some help with your homework?
Yes, we just started learning about this new thing called, Transformations in class, and I don't really understand them.
Ok let's take a look.
What's the first problem?
I have to translate the triangle 3 units down and 2 units to the left.
Let's start off with the blue point. Move the point down to the y-axis 3 times. Then move it right 2 times on the x-axis. Do this with all the points to find the translated triangle.
Translations are when points or figures move up or down on the y-axis and left and right on the x-axis.
To move the whole triangle 3 units down and 2 to the right, you have to move every point of the triangle down 3 times and right two times.

Wow it's actually pretty simple. The next thing I need help with is Reflections.

To remember what to do and which way to flip it think of the axis they tell you as a mirror.
Reflecting figures across an axis basically means copying the figure and flipping it across whichever axis.
