- Time for my blue suede shoes!
- When the boy tries to steal Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones's purse, he stumbles down because of his momentum and she tells the boy to hand her purse back to her.
- Yes Ma'am
- I'm about to treat this boy as my own
- Hand my purse boy
- Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones then drags the boy to her apartment asking him "What is your name boy?" and the boy responded "Roger Ma'am". She then tells Roger to wash him face.
- Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones cooks while Roger was washing his face. When Roger is finished washing his face, he came to the table and Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones's purse was on the ground but Roger chose not to steal it. Roger offered to help Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones cooking by saying “Do you need me to get some milk from the store”
- Thank You Ma'am
- Eat some more Roger
- After they were finished, Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones gave Roger the money for blue suede shoes and acted as if Roger was her son.
- Here's the money for your shoes
- Roger was about to say "Thank You Ma'am" but Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones closed the door before he could say it and he never saw her again. The theme of the story is If you steal, there is consequences but sometimes you might learn something.
