  • Iron Curtain
  • Europe is too divided
  • Berlin Airlift
  • Marshall Plan
  • Winston Churchill, a man that help Britain get through world war ii gave a speech about how Europe was so divided, that it seemed like there was an "Iron curtain".
  • Formation of NATO
  • The U.S used aircraft to get cargo over to Berlin. Since the soviet was so against the allies entering Berlin, They used planes in order to drop supplies down.
  • Truman Doctrine
  • Marshalls were planned to get around to different European countries to help reassemble their country. This would also be an opportunity to heal them from communism.
  • Containment Policy
  • Many Western European countries and the United States feared being attack after the destruction of Berlin. They both started an alliance called NATO(North Atlantic Treaty Organization), put in to get security to protect from the Soviet Union.
  • The Truman Doctrine was put in place for other countries to resist the spread of communism. Greece and Turkey were offered $100 million to have prohibited Communism in their country.
  • The U.S was willing to do anything to stop the spread of communism from their country and other countries. This policy was put in place by George Kennan.
