- In this section, Josh and his father are playing basketball when his dad has a heart attack. Josh immediately grieves while coming to help.

- In this scene, Josh is talking with the doctor about what happened after his dad had a heart attack.

- In this section, Josh is grieving his dad's death after he had a heart attack.
- The main theme of the Crossover is to get over obstacles in life. One piece of evidence is when his dad says,"A loss is inevitable, like snow in winter. True champions must learn to dance through the storm." (230) This shows that in the book, you have to persevere through obstacles.
