Grace Cahill dies in this room. with Saladin, her cat, by her side. William McIntyre is her advisor. They have worked closely for many years. After her death, a strange man in black appears and both him and William act very strange and mysterious.

This is Grace Cahill's funeral. Many other people are just here for the money, but not Dan and Amy. They had a good relationship with their Grandmother Grace. Dan felt like she was the only person that understood him. Amy felt similar as well.
I think we should team, just until we are close to the clue.
Grace introduces the 39 clues challenge through a video William presents. They are given five minutes to decide whether they accept it, and through away one million dollars, or keep the one millions dollars but do not become the greatest Cahill's in history.
But Grace would want us to do this.
Dan and Amy accept the challenge after talking through mental messages.
Alistair Oh asks Amy and Dan to make an alliance. They do so, and also find a hidden stairwell leading to a second library.
Alistair Oh takes advantage of Amy and Dan. They find the first part of the first clue together, but Alistair steals the clue. It was a book titled Poor Richard's Almanack, by Benjamin Franklin, whose pen name for this book was Richard Saunders. Their mom wrote in this copy of the book. Alistair steals the book while the mansion goes on fire. He and the black man are acting suspicious and as if they are working together. Amy and Dan escape with Saladin.
