Colonist who were east of the Appalachian mountains were forced to move east of the proclamation line and out of native land. The other colonists were not allowed to move west of the Appalachians.

Merchants were taxed for sugar and other goods by the British and it got in the way of their trade.

Colonists were getting taxed on paper goods such as newspaper and playing cards.
