Storyboard Text

  • Climate is weather conditions in an area over a period of time.
  • Climates of the past were a lot different from climates now and I'm talking billions of years ago. there was very little oxygen and the world was generally warmer since it consisted of lots of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane.
  • Because scientists are unable to go back and look to the past they developed new ways of doing so an example being:
  • The Milankovitch cycles! The Milankovitch cycles tell of the effects of changes in the earth's moves on its climate over a long period of a time.
  • Although some parts of a volcano can be hot to the point where you touch it you die, volcanoes actually cool the climate. During a volcanic eruption, volcanoes emit particles into the air to block off solar radiation. This process can last for years!
  • Ocean currents send warmer water to the colder temperate regions while dragging colder water down to the tropical regions. Some results of this are: warm currents bring evaporation which means rain is awaiting coastal areas. They can also kill marine wildlife and lastly, cold ocean currents are able to help with the creation of a desert. Air is blowing toward shore and through the contact of cold currents results in a layer of fog this fog now drifts onto land and the atmospheric changes that cause rainfall are not present.
