  • You may write me down in history with your bitter twisted lies
  • IM going to but in my journal that you were a horrible person who was corruption our society.
  • You may trod me in the very dirt
  • Why are you such a loser you dont belong here, go back to where you came from.
  • But still like dirt I rise
  • In the poem, Maya Angelou states that " you may cut me with your eyes." This imagery emphasizes the discrimination she faced from the opposite race in their attempt to destroy her.
  • In the poem, Maya states "you may write me down in history with your bitter twisted lies". This means that the people who discriminated her would write mean untrue things about her and her race. Also, they stated "You may trod me in the very dirt, but still, like dust I rise" which mean that even though you disrespect her and talk mean to her she still will pick her head up and ignore because she knows that she is better they what they think she is.
