  • In Boston 1919 police wages were just enough to get you by. (Police Earn around 1400$ a year back then)
  • But over time prices for food and clothing became to high for police to afford (Police often times had to buy their own equipment Vest, Pants, etc)
  • $$$

  • Soon Police started thinking about going on strike and on September 9th of 1919 they did.
  • More $$$
  • In result, almost all of them got fired. (Around 1,100 Police or 72% of the police force)
  • Over time more and more crimes appered from the lack of police
  • STUFF

  • Replacement volunteers were now taking place many of which were students at Harvard University
  • Many more of the recruits came from world war 1 veterans and in total gathered around 1,500 of them
  • The Boston police force was past what they were before everyone got fired and was stronger now then before.
