- Chinese people needed to come to America for new opportunities,safety, and money. According to Milestone:1866-1898, Chinese immigrants were particularly instrumental in building railroads in the American west, and as Chinese laborers grew successful in the United States, a number of them became entrepreneurs in their own right.
- In the 1800's many of the Chinese workers that came over had to use their money to pay back their sponsors. These people paid their way into America. According to Milestone:1866-1898, Most Chinese laborers who came to the United States did so in order to send money back to China to support their families there. At the same time, they also had to repay loans to the Chinese merchants who paid their passage to America.
- Although many laws were put in place to stop Chinese immigration and many people were upset about the Chinese being in America, the Chinese actually built most of the railroads that we have in America. they helped a lot.
