  • This is James Devlin. He has inherited OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), a disorder that has afflicted most of his family on his mother's side. Unfortunately, James's OCD is far worse than anyone else in his family, and he has an extremely difficult time coping with it. James's disorder is apparent from the moment he wakes up, as he is already anxious that he didn't get a full 8 hours of sleep.
  • Oh god... I woke up early... that means I only got 7 hours and 48 minutes of sleep... I'm gonna be tired all day.
  • James takes his morning shower. He has developed the habit of showering in his clothes, out of paranoia that someone will see him naked. Occasionally, James will accidentally use the same towel he used the day before, and will take multiple showers to ensure that he doesnt come in contact with any germs.
  • James cooks eggs for breakfast. This is his 3rd attempt at making them, however, as the first 2 times he didn't cook them for exactly 4 minutes and 30 seconds, and worried that he would get salmonella.
  • 27... 28... 29... 30...
  • James leaves his house to go to work. He is running late as usual, as he has had to run in and out of his house multiple times to make sure everything is turned off. Even though he has checked multiple times, he still can't shake the feeling that he left the oven on. he tries to put it out of his mind as he drives to work.
  • At work, James is preparing a spreadsheet for the company's yearly expenses. James OCD actually helps him when doing tedious task such as this, as his extreme attention to detail and paranoia of making a mistake ensures that his work is done correctly, even if it does take a little longer to do it.
  • On his way home from work, James stops at his favourite cafe for a sandwich. The employees at the shop all know James and his OCD, and one of the employees has told James about a new type of treatment for OCD, called cognitive behaviour therapy, which focuses on teaching patients to have control over their OCD and eventually overcome it. James is excited about this and decides to look into it when he gets home.
