Storyboard Text

  • Hello Parents, thank you for coming! I wanted to talk to you about Madi's recent performance in our mathematics class.
  • Student isn't in trouble, I just wanted to make a plan with the two of you, to see how we can help them get the most out of their math class this year.
  • Yes.. To start I'd like to ask that you get Student a special folder or binder for Math, as well as a planner. Go over the assignments with them for Math everyday, see what the assignment is and when it is due, etc. Help them organize using the planner and folder.
  • If student isn't in trouble, and they aren't failing, why are we here then?
  • As you know, Student is receiving a C in our class right now. You can see in their exams 1, 2, 3, they really know the material. The trouble is, they aren'tturning in their homework, or participating during in class assignments.
  • So, if they just turned in the work, then their grades would be better?
  • Is there anything you wanted us to do about it?
  • Yes, actually. There were a few options I wanted to go over with you. Right now, it is my belief that Student is having troubles with organizing their homework, or the material is simply too easy for them, so they aren't interested in the homework.
  • Okay ... do you or the school have a plan of action then?
  • Then we can monitor how this affects their behavior in the class, and how it affects their grades. You can email me updates on the home-situation or leave me messages on my school phone.
  • That sounds manageable.
  • Will you send us an updated version of Student's schedule?
  • With your permission, I'd also like to have Student take a test to see if they aren't being challenged enough in our class. This can be either before or after we implement this new organization strategy, your choice!
  • Before we agree, I think we'd like to go home and discuss this with each other and Student. Can we let you know what we decide later?
  • I actually printed you a hard copy to take home with you if you'd like ...
  • Of course!
  • And don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, ideas, or goals you and Student have for our class!See you soon!
  • Thanks so much for coming today!
  • Thanks so much, we'll be in touch soon!
